Knee Pain Treatment

Knee Pain Treatment in Denver

Dr. Andrew Pichurko, owner of Denver Spine & Performance, diagnoses and treats a wide range of knee pain cases using movement assessment and specific exercise. By assessing symptomatic response to movements, Dr. Pichurko identifies how the condition behaves and how to effectively regain tolerance to activity.

What is it?

Knee pain is typically mechanical in origin, meaning that it is related to movements or sustained positions that have accumulated stress at the joint. Supporting soft tissues such as ligaments, menisci, and joint capsules may become sensitive due to excessive stretching or loading over time. Knee pain may occur following a single significant movement such as an awkward twist, repeated movements such as running downhill, or as a result of a sustained position such as a prolonged squat or kneeling position.

How do we treat it?

Upon gaining a full understanding of the mechanism of injury, we can identify potential triggers as well as movements that may alleviate stress at the joint. If there are movements that intensify your knee pain, it is very likely that there are movements that alleviate knee pain and ultimately abolish symptoms. It is common for knee injuries to be associated with weakness or dysfunction of relevant musculature, therefore, we utilize specific rehabilitative exercise to restore function and prevent recurrence.
